Jesus remains when all else wears out
“ Of old you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,
but you are the same, and your years have no end.
(Psalm 102:25-27 ESV)”
I was studying for our study in Hebrews on Sunday nights with the Harvest Youth and I stumbled upon this verse. For some reason it stuck with me. In a world where everything seems to be wearing faster and faster, and things don't hold up as they used to, Jesus is the same and remains when everything else falls apart in our lives.
As King David proclaimed "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." (Psalm 18:2). In Jesus we have something that doesn't fade, rust, break apart, or suddenly stop working on us! How incredibly amazing is that!
